The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart, head and hands

Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.

You have Freedom, how are you using it?

As Muslims we ARE -free. Free to make our own choices in life. So have you stopped to ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” and then taken notice of whether given the options in front of you, you choose what Allah would want or whether you chose something else?

Sometimes the excercise of freedom requires us to question our choices. All choices may lead to outcomes that are in some way painful. But the real pain is standing on the day of Qiyamah feeling powerless knowing that you cant change the choices you have made in the world.

Today’s the day to stop abusing the ‘Freedom’ we all vehmently fight for and start using it to your benefit.

Success and happiness is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

Remove yourself from any situation that requires you to give up any one of these three things:
1) Who you are.
2) What you stand for.
3) The goals you aspire to achieve.

Are You Denying Personal Responsibility?

Denying personal responsibility is not something to be taken lightly or brushed away.  Almost everything you’re getting in your life right now is based on the decisions you have made; and you will continue to receive these same kinds of things until you choose differently.

You always have other options, dont get stuck into thinking that things just happen and that there is nothing you can do about it. The choices infront of you might not be easy, but they are available.

So take responsibility for yourself and start making choices. Stop denying yourself from taking charge of your life. You wont get a different result out of your life until you exercise a choice that forces you to grow by habit, by action, and by change.

Tell the Truth

Start being honest with yourself about everything. – The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man may speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as truthful. Lying leads to wickedness and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man may tell lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar.”

Be honest about what’s right, as well as what needs to be changed. Be honest about what you want to achieve and who you want to become. Be honest with every aspect of your life, always. Because you are the one person you can forever count on and it could lead you towards being recorded by Allah as truthful!

Islam teaches us that truthfulness is more than having an honest tongue. In Islam, truthfulness is the conformity of the outer with the inner, the action with the intention, the speech with belief, and the practice with the preaching. Truthfulness is the very cornerstone of the upright Muslim’s character and the springboard for virtuous deeds.

So search your religion, for the truth, so that you will truly know who you are meant to be. Once you do, you’ll have a better understanding of where you are now and how you got here, and you’ll be better able to identify where you want to go and how to get there.

Above all remember that to tread the path of truthfulness is to tread the path of the most righteous of Allah’s creation!

Get aware of your style of Communication

How do you normally communicate with other people? Is it through words, gestures, emotions, thoughts, desires, needs, truths, perception or intuition? Do you focus more on the other person or on yourself? Do you usually tell, ask or listen?

Set an intention to be aware of your communication styles and skills. It will really open your eyes. After you’ve spent some time talking with someone, reflect on what your motives were. This reflection will help you become more aware and conscious of who you are and why you communicate եhė way γσυ do with other people.

“I take full accountability for my life”

If there is one thing in this world that you should be able to say right after the Shahaadah, should be: “I take full accountability for my life.”

Own your choices and mistakes, and be willing to take the necessary steps to improve upon them. Because you ultimately have to take accountability for your life when you stand before Allah. Trust moi none else will be held accountable for what YOU HAVE DONE.

You are the only one who can directly control the outcome of your life. And no, it won’t always be easy, so stop expecting a perfect life. Everyone has their share of obstacles. But you must take accountability for your life and who you are and overcome your obstacles.

Choosing not to is choosing a lifetime of mere existence. A proactive Muslim means thats not an option.

What are your words saying about you?

Have you ever stopped to notice what kind of words pass over your lips everyday?

Are your words critical, justifying, blaming, gossiping, or argumentative? or are they truthful, loving, positive, inspirational and guiding?

Our mouths are the centre of our expression. Who we are inside shows in what we say. Have you stopped to see what are you revealing about who you are?

How To Show Gratitude For Your Faculties

A man said to Abu Hazim, “What is the gratitude of your eyes?”

He said, “If you see good things, you speak about them, and if you see bad things, you keep quiet about it.”

He asked, “What is the gratitude of the ears?”

He said, “If you hear something good, you accept it, and if you hear something bad, you reject it.”

Then he asked, “What is the gratitude of the hands?” He said, “Do not take that which does not belong to you, and do not hold back from paying the dues of Allah (zakaat).”

Then he asked, “What is the gratitude of the head?”

He said, “To have knowledge in it.”

Then he asked, “What is the gratitude of one’s private parts?” He quoted: “Who guard their private parts, except from those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hand possess – for (in their case) they are free from blame, but those whose desires exceed those limits are trangressors’” (Surah al-Mu’minun 23:5-7)

Small Ripples Make Waves

As Muslims we know that that seemingly small people can make a BIG difference. So lets start staying positive when negativity surrounds us; Smile when others frown. Abu Dharr said, “The Prophet, (SAW), told me, ‘Do not consider anything correct insignificant, even meeting your brother with a happy face.” (Muslim) It’s such an easy way to make a difference!

There are many small, simple actions you can make to profoundly impact your family, your community, and the world. You could pick up and throw away some trash you see on the street. Abu Hurairra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “A man passed by a fallen branch in the middle of the road and said, ‘By Allah, I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so that it does not inconvenience them’ and he was admitted into the Garden.” (Muslim)

Make Dua for your fellow Believers. Find something in your house that you can part with and give it to someone who could use it. Everyone values the gift of unexpected kindness and assistance and those who supply it. There’s a Hadith: Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother.”

So let’s start leaving everything a little better than we found it. And soon enough we’ll see why, Islam encourages it!
